Medical Interpretation Services For a Chinese Patient in Nice

Cultures Connection is a translation agency with a strong connection to the city of Nice. Our agency was established more than 10 years ago, with its headquarters just steps from the Place Massena. Since, we provide translation and interpreting services to clients all over the world. Our agency pays attention to the happenings of the the Côte d’Azur. We feel strongly about responding to any and all linguistic needs that private and public organizations may have in the region. As a result, we have worked in numerous locations, like at the Pasteur Hospital in Nice, providing crucial medical interpretation services.

Medical Interpretation at Hospital Pasteur

Cultures Connection’s trained interpreters provided their medical interpretation services for the main healthcare institute in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region (PACA). Pasteur Hospital, also known as the University Hospital of Nice, serves an estimated 1.5 million patients. The hospital offers general hospital services and conducts medical training, research, and scientific innovation. It is one of the largest healthcare campuses in France with some 1500 beds and over 7000 working professionals.

Last January 26, Cultures Connection appointed an interpreter to provide a liaison interpretation service for a scheduled medical appointment at the hospital for a Chinese patient.

Our chosen interpreter was a native speaker of Chinese and bilingual in French. This allowed for proper communication between the patient and healthcare professionals. Equally important was that she had knowledge of the medical field. Some training is necessary to be able to accurately explain the patient’s symptoms and professional observations.

Like any liaison interpreter, our interpreter functioned as a mediator between the parties in an informal setting. Without taking notes, she memorized on the spot what each of the participant said, reproducing their message from Chinese to French and from French to Chinese.

As it was a face-to-face meeting with only a few people, no technological equipment was necessary. The interpreter’s empathy and sensitivity was essential. She recognized the concerns of a patient who was unable to communicate his health problems by his own means.

Over 10 Years of Interpreting Experience in Nice

Cultures Connection has worked not only in Nice, but also throughout the PACA region.

In addition to Pasteur Hospital, Cultures Connection has participated in numerous activities organized by local public organizations. In Nice, our agency has participated in meetings for the construction of the futuristic Iconic complex in the Thiers neighborhood. On a regional level, our agency has attended meetings for business awareness of water use by the Chamber of Crafts and Trades of the PACA region and for the promotion of tourism in Draguignan by Sites & Cités.

Cultures Connection is equally experienced in the private sector, having provided dozens of medical interpretation services. We were also present at the annual meeting of the International Spinal Cord Society at the Acropolis Convention and Exhibition Center in Nice. Cultures Connection has participated in the Aesthetic Medicine Congress held at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco and collaborated in the annual conference held by the European Health Services Distribution Association, held at the Hôtel Barrière Le Gray d’Albion in Cannes.

Organizations choose Cultures Connection for our expertise in multiple work sectors, our excellent professionalism and confidentiality, and our high management capacity and efficiency in the projects in which we participate. Cultures Connection is also flexible and we work within our clients’ budgets to best tailor to their needs.
