As part of a multi-year tender, Cultures Connection undertook a major project for the Sécurité Sociale de St Pierre et Miquelon, mobilizing a dedicated and skilled team to ensure smooth and efficient communication between the region’s French-speaking healthcare professionals and patients. Our task was to translate around 30 medical documents per week from English into French, in a record time of less than 24 hours.
The challenge
This unique project presented several major challenges. Firstly, the source documents were often of poor quality, in PDF format, making the content difficult to read. However, the importance of these documents to patients and healthcare professionals meant that there was no room for compromise in terms of accuracy and translation quality.
What’s more, the turnaround time of less than 24 hours for each translation demanded unparalleled coordination and efficiency. Medical information must be accessible quickly and with maximum accuracy to ensure continuity of care and mutual understanding between the parties involved.
The team
To meet this demanding challenge, our team of experienced translators was made up of five medical and translation experts. Each team member was carefully selected for their language skills and experience in the medical field, ensuring accurate translations tailored to the specific medical context of St Pierre et Miquelon.
In addition, a DTP (Desktop Publishing) specialist was also mobilized to ensure the impeccable layout of the translations in Microsoft Word.
